Enhancing Patient and Caregiver Safety with Tritanâ„¢ Integrated Products
By Elcam MedicalThe potential for Environmental Stress Cracking (ESC) is a well-known concern when plastics are used in medical device components. The use of lipids and other aggressive solutions may initiate microcracks in the polymer and compromise the material’s mechanical integrity. This event may lead to serious patient injury and also jeopardize medical personnel.
As an answer to this need and as part of the continuous effort to enhance patient and caregiver safety, Elcam-Medical is now incorporating Tritanâ„¢ - a new, robust resin that can help minimize lipid-induced cracking in its new SafeTâ„¢ product line.
The SafeTâ„¢ stopcocks have been tested and proven to be lipid and IPA resistant.
